Who we are looking for

· You are in your second or third year of software engineering or computer science at a university in Addis Ababa.

· You have built things nobody asked you to build. That matters to us more than your grades, and far more than your CV.

· You are genuinely good — not promising, good — and you taught yourself most of it.

· You want a hard problem and you are bored of ones with a known answer.

· You can carry twenty hours a week alongside your studies without either suffering.

What you would actually work on

Live systems, from your first week. Nothing invented to keep an intern busy.

· USSD and IVR flows that have to work on a phone with no internet and a customer who may press anything.

· Collecting small amounts of money from a wallet, reliably, when the balance is often empty.

· A reconciliation that runs every morning across three systems that never quite agree.

· An enrolment app used by field officers in factories and cooperatives, with national ID verification built in.

· The dashboard that tells us the truth about whether any of it is working.

The terms

· Twelve weeks · about twenty hours a week · two days in the office · exam periods protected.

· Paid monthly.

· You report to the CTO directly, work on live systems from the first week, and are the only intern — you will not be one of a crowd.

· If you are good, this becomes a part-time role while you study and a full-time one when you graduate. The criteria are written down and shared on day one.
