Senior Software Engineer (Backend / Fiscal Systems)
We build a multi-tenant fiscal invoicing platform that integrates directly with a national tax authority's electronic invoicing system. Every invoice our platform issues is cryptographically signed, registered with the government in real time, and stored in an immutable ledger for its full legal retention period. Correctness is not a nice-to-have here — a wrong invoice number or a broken signature chain is a compliance failure, not a bug ticket. We're looking for a senior engineer who is comfortable owning systems where the cost of being wrong is high and irreversibility is a design constraint.

What you'll work on

The core invoicing engine: reserve-before-submit numbering, per-source invoice chains, idempotent submission to an external government API, and retry/failure handling that never double-consumes or skips a document number.
Integration with a national tax authority's API: request signing, payload encryption, token/session lifecycle, response verification, and correct handling of a large error-code surface.
Multi-tenant application logic on top of a shared PostgreSQL database with row-level security — writing code that treats tenant isolation as a database-enforced invariant, not an application convention.
Authentication and authorization: role-based access control, MFA, session management, and an append-only audit log of security-relevant events.
Test discipline that matches the stakes: unit, integration, and mutation testing; designing code so that critical rules can be executed and proven, not merely read.

What we're looking for

5+ years building production backend systems, with real ownership of at least one system where data integrity or correctness mattered (payments, ledgers, healthcare, fiscal, or similar).
Strong TypeScript/Node.js (or comparable) and deep, practical SQL — you understand transactions, isolation levels, and why SET LOCAL inside a transaction behaves the way it does.
Experience integrating with strict external APIs: signing, certificates, schema validation, versioned error handling.
A test-first instinct and the judgment to tell a thin test from a real defect.
Clear written communication — you can document a decision so the next person understands why, not just what.

Nice to have

Cryptography in practice: digital signatures (RSA/ECDSA), X.509 certificates, key rotation.
Experience with a compliance or certification regime (PCI-DSS, ISO 27001, SOC 2, or a government fiscal/e-invoicing standard).
Multi-tenant SaaS architecture experience.
