Job Description

We are looking for an experienced and proactive Intermediate Tax & General Accountant to manage our complete accounting cycle, statutory tax compliance, and government tax office relations. The ideal candidate must have a deep, practical understanding of the Ethiopian tax system, hands-on experience navigating the Ministry of Revenue (MoR) and sub-city tax offices (Kifle Ketema), and a proven track record of handling tax audits and resolving past tax liabilities.

Key Responsibilities

Tax Compliance & Filing: Prepare, reconcile, and file monthly statutory declarations (VAT, WHT, Payroll Tax, Pension, Cost Sharing) via the MoR e-Tax portal and physical tax branbcbhes.

Annual Tax & Financials: Prepare annual Business Income Tax (Profit Tax) returns, compile audited financial statements under IFRS/SMEs, and secure annual Tax Clearance Certificates.

Government Liaison & Audit Support : Serve as the main point of contact for Ministry of Revenue officers and sub-city auditors; represent the company during routine and retrospective tax audits.

Tax Settlement & Reconciliation: Investigate, reconcile, and build strategic resolution plans for past tax assessments, liabilities, and discrepancies.

General Bookkeeping : Maintain General Ledger accounts, conduct monthly bank & inventory reconciliations, and manage payroll.

Job Requirements

Education: BA Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.

Experience : practical accounting experience in Ethiopia, with strong exposure to tax management and MoR audit defense.

Technical Skills

Expertise in Ethiopian Income Tax Proclamation and Tax Administration Proclamation

Proficient in the MoR e-Tax Portal, Peachtree/Sage, and MS Excel

Competencies : Strong communication & negotiation skills with tax officials, high integrity, and meticulous recordkeeping.
