Senior Inventory Accountant

Reports To

Finance Manager / Chief Accountant

Job Summary

The Senior Inventory Accountant is responsible for managing and controlling inventory accounting activities, ensuring accurate inventory records, monitoring stock movements, conducting reconciliations, and preparing financial reports related to inventory. The role supports effective inventory management and compliance with company policies and accounting standards.

Key Responsibilities

Maintain accurate inventory records in the accounting and inventory management systems.
Monitor and reconcile inventory transactions, including receipts, transfers, adjustments, and issues.
Conduct periodic inventory counts and stock audits.
Investigate and resolve inventory discrepancies and variances.
Prepare monthly inventory reconciliation reports.
Calculate and monitor inventory costs and valuations.
Ensure proper recording of inventory-related expenses and transactions.
Coordinate with warehouse, procurement, and operations teams to ensure inventory accuracy.
Assist in month-end and year-end closing activities.
Prepare financial reports and analyses related to inventory performance.
Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and accounting standards.
Support internal and external audit processes.
Recommend improvements to inventory control procedures.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
Minimum of 3-4 years of accounting experience in inventory accounting.
Strong knowledge of inventory accounting principles and costing methods.
Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
Experience with ERP systems is an advantage.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
