Sacon Construction and Trading PLC is seeking a qualified and motivated Agricultural Officer to manage vegetable sourcing, production coordination, quality control, and post-harvest processing.

The successful candidate will work closely with farmers and suppliers to ensure a continuous supply of high-quality vegetables for local and export markets.

NB: Duty station:-Addis Ababa, with frequent field travel

Key Responsibilities

Identify, evaluate, and develop reliable vegetable suppliers and farms.
Source vegetables based on company quality standards and customer requirements.
Build and maintain strong relationships with farmers, cooperatives, and aggregators.
Supervise harvesting, grading, sorting, washing, packing, and post-harvest handling.
Monitor product quality throughout the processing and packing stages.
Plan procurement schedules according to production and export requirements.
Conduct regular farm visits to assess crop quality and production capacity.
Negotiate purchase prices and supply agreements with farmers and suppliers.
Prepare sourcing, quality, and inventory reports.
Coordinate with logistics, warehouse, and sales teams to ensure timely deliveries.
Ensure compliance with food safety, quality, and export standards.

Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in Horticulture, Plant Science, Agriculture, Agribusiness, or a related field.
Minimum of 3 years of experience in vegetable production, sourcing, procurement, or post-harvest handling.
Strong knowledge of vegetable cultivation, grading, and quality standards.
Experience working with commercial farms and smallholder farmers.
Good negotiation, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, and Outlook).
Willingness to travel frequently to farming areas.

Preferred Skills

Experience in fresh produce export operations.
Knowledge of cold chain management and post-harvest handling.
Ability to work under pressure and meet procurement deadlines.
Strong organizational and reporting skills.
