About the role

Gerad is seeking a Dispatcher to support daily shipment operations on our digital logistics marketplace. The Dispatcher will monitor active shipments, assist shippers and drivers, resolve operational exceptions, and help ensure pickups and deliveries are completed successfully.

Gerad uses technology to match shipments with suitable drivers. This role supports that process and intervenes when users need assistance—it is not traditional manual dispatching.

Responsibilities

Monitor new, accepted, active, and delayed shipments.

Assist shippers who need help posting shipments through the platform.

Support drivers with shipment acceptance, pickup, delivery, and status updates.

Investigate failed matches, cancellations, delays, and incomplete trips.

Coordinate communication between shippers and drivers when intervention is required.

Escalate payment, safety, documentation, or technical issues.

Maintain accurate operational notes and shipment records.

Provide professional support through phone calls, messages, and the Gerad platform.

Prepare daily reports on active shipments and operational incidents.

Work flexible shifts when operational coverage requires it.

Requirements

Previous experience in dispatch, logistics operations, customer service, or transportation is preferred.

Strong knowledge of Addis Ababa and major Ethiopian transport routes.

Confidence using mobile applications, dashboards, and digital communication tools.

Ability to remain calm and make decisions in time-sensitive situations.

Strong attention to detail and record-keeping skills.

Good communication skills in Amharic and English; additional local languages are an advantage.
