Job Summary
Our company is a leading market player specializing in high-quality traditional food processing and premium agro-processing retail products. We are seeking a sharp, highly organized, and proactive Procurement Specialist to manage our supply chain and international sourcing operations. This role is responsible for overseeing the entire procurement lifecycle—from global supplier identification to complex import logistics—ensuring our distribution lines receive high-quality, consumer-ready agro-products and finished food items without costly delays.

the ideal candidate must have a proven, battle-tested track record in international sourcing and handling the complex import pipelines required for consumer-ready agro-products, retail-packaged goods, and consumer food brands. Practical, hands-on field experience in the FMCG/import sector is valued much higher than specific degree titles.

Main Role and Responsibilities
- Import Logistics & Sourcing: Take full ownership of the end-to-end import pipeline for finished, consumer-ready agro-products—managing international suppliers, freight forwarders, shipping lines, and transit schedules.
- Pricing & Supplier Relations: Scout global consumer food markets to find reliable manufacturers of consumer-ready products, lock in competitive distribution pricing, and cultivate robust vendor partnerships.
- Evaluation & Negotiation: Review international supplier proposals, demand detailed quotes, and aggressively negotiate the best commercial terms and distribution rights for the company.
- Order & Cost Management: Issue purchase orders, track shipments to prevent bottlenecks, manage foreign currency utilization, and handle bank procedures like Letters of Credit (LCs).
- Quality Control & Compliance: Oversee international quality certifications, ensuring all imported finished food products strictly meet corporate standards, shelf-life requirements, and local regulatory import laws.
- Cross-Functional Coordination: Work closely with sales, distribution, and supply management teams to accurately align shipment arrivals with market demand and retail timelines.
- Records & Workflow Analytics: Maintain meticulous records of all purchase requests, shipping documents, customs clearances, and invoices. Present layout challenges and solutions to management.

Other Preferred Qualifications
- Education: University Degree or relevant professional certifications in Supply Chain, Logistics, Procurement, Business, or a related field. (Extensive, proven field experience is heavily prioritized over degrees).
- Experience: Proven, hands-on experience in procurement and supply chain operations, with a strong focus on importing consumer-ready agro-products, packaged food items, or FMCG goods.
- Solid understanding of Ethiopian import procedures, customs clearance processes, and bank requirements (LCs).
- Excellent negotiation skills with both local and global suppliers/distributors.
- Sharp problem-solving abilities to handle logistics delays and supply chain risks.
