A Supermarket Check Payment Cashier is to handling check payments to vendors and suppliers

Key Responsibilities and Duties

Process check payments: Generate and process checks for approved invoices and expense reports.

Invoice verification: Match invoices against purchase orders and receiving documents to ensure accuracy before issuing payment.

Maintain accurate records: Keep meticulous and organized records of all check payments, including check numbers, dates, payee information, and corresponding invoice references.

Track outstanding checks: Monitor which checks have cleared the bank versus those still outstanding to assist with the bank reconciliation process.

Vendor communication: Professionally address vendor inquiries regarding payment status and resolve any discrepancies.

Enforce compliance: Adhere to all internal controls and financial policies to prevent fraud, errors, and discrepancies in the check payment process.

Customer service: Assist customers with inquiries, issues, or complaints related to front-end operations.

Manage transactions: Handle cash, credit, and other electronic payment methods from customers at the front-end register.

Reconcile till: Balance the cash drawer at the beginning and end of each shift.

Qualifications and Skills

Education: A diploma in accounting or finance, working as a supermarket main casher is a plus.

Experience: Previous experience in a retail environment is essential, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or head cashier role. Experience handling large amounts of Check Payment is mandatory.

Technical Skills:

Proficiency in operating Point of Sale (POS) systems and related retail software.

Basic computer literacy, including experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word).

Soft Skills:

Exceptional attention to detail and a high commitment to accuracy in check handling.

Excellent customer & vendors service and communication skills to handle diverse interactions effectively.

Problem-solving abilities to quickly address operational issues and customer & vendors concerns.

Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle pressure effectively.

Flexibility to work various shifts, including weekends, evenings, and holidays, as required by the supermarket industry.
