Job Description: Human Resources (HR) Officer

Position: Human Resources Officer

Department: Human Resources

Reports To: HR Manager / CEO

Location: Addis Ababa

Summary

The HR Officer is responsible for supporting the full spectrum of HR functions including recruitment, onboarding, performance management, employee relations, documentation, and policy implementation. The role ensures the organization has effective HR operations and a positive work environment.

Key Responsibilities

1. Recruitment & Onboarding

Post job vacancies, screen CVs, and coordinate interviews.

Conduct background checks and prepare employment contracts.

Facilitate onboarding and orientation programs for new hires.

2. Employee Relations

Provide guidance on HR policies and procedures.

Handle employee complaints, conflicts, and disciplinary issues professionally.

Maintain employee confidentiality and support a positive work culture.

3. HR Administration

Maintain HR records, employee files, and databases.

Prepare HR letters, memos, and official communications.

Ensure compliance with labor laws and company policies.

4. Performance Management

Assist in setting KPIs and conducting performance appraisals.

Track employee attendance, leave, and disciplinary actions.

Support managers in staff development and coaching programs.

5. Compensation & Benefits

Manage payroll inputs, overtime, and deductions.

Administer employee benefits (leave, medical, insurance, etc.).

Track probation periods, contract renewals, and promotions.

6. Training & Development

Identify training needs and coordinate training programs.

Monitor employee development and evaluate training outcomes.

Requirements

Bachelor’s Degree in HR Management, Business Administration, or related field.

1–3 years of experience in HR; fintech experience is a plus.

Good knowledge of Ethiopian labor law and HR best practices.

Strong communication, interpersonal, and conflict-resolution skills.

Proficient in MS Office; experience with HR software is an advantage.

High level of confidentiality, professionalism, and integrity.
