Role Overview

We are looking for a detail-oriented and tech-savvy Accountant to manage our retail shop's financial health. As we modernize our operations, the successful candidate will move our records from manual systems to digital platforms, ensuring we are ready for the new Ethiopian banking and WTO trade standards.

Main Roles & Responsibilities

• Digital Bookkeeping: Transition and maintain all daily sales, expenses, and purchases in an accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks or Peachtree/Sage).

• Tax Compliance: Prepare and file monthly VAT, withholding tax, and payroll taxes in accordance with the latest Ethiopian Ministry of Revenues regulations.

• Inventory Control: Reconcile physical shop stock with digital records to prevent loss and track high-performing products.

• Banking & FX: Manage bank reconciliations and prepare documentation for Letter of Credit (LC) or trade finance applications.

• Financial Reporting: Provide weekly and monthly Profit & Loss statements to management to guide business growth.

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Education: First Degree (BA) in Accounting, Finance, or a related field from a recognized university.

• Tech-Ready: Proficiency in accounting software and Advanced MS Excel (Pivot tables, VLookups).

• Regulatory Knowledge: Strong understanding of current Ethiopian tax laws and IFRS (International Financial Reporting Standards).

• Attention to Detail: Ability to spot errors in manual receipts and reconcile them with digital bank statements.

• Integrity: High level of honesty as you will be managing the \"heart\" of the business.
