We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Coffee Roaster & Quality Control Specialist to manage roasting operations and ensure consistent coffee quality. The ideal candidate will have strong technical roasting skills, a good sensory understanding of coffee, and experience in maintaining quality standards for export markets.

Key Responsibilities

Roast green coffee beans according to defined profiles and quality standards
Develop and adjust roasting profiles based on bean origin and characteristics
Conduct cupping sessions to evaluate coffee quality and consistency
Monitor roast curves, temperature, and roasting parameters
Ensure proper operation and maintenance of roasting equipment
Work closely with the sourcing and quality teams to maintain standards
Keep accurate records of roasting data and quality results
Ensure compliance with export quality requirements

Qualifications

Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Agriculture, or related field (preferred but not mandatory)
Certification in coffee roasting, cupping, or quality control is a plus

Work Experience

Minimum 2–5 years of experience in coffee roasting
Experience working with specialty coffee is highly preferred
Experience in cupping and sensory evaluation
Familiarity with different coffee processing methods (washed, natural, anaerobic, etc.)

Required Skills

Strong understanding of roasting techniques and profiles
Good sensory and cupping skills
Attention to detail and consistency
Ability to operate roasting machines and related equipment
Basic data recording and analysis skills
Teamwork and communication skills

Preferred (Added Advantage)

Experience in coffee export or quality control for international markets
Knowledge of Ethiopian coffee varieties and regions (Sidama, Yirgacheffe, Guji, etc.)
Familiarity with SCA standards and grading systems
